V18: Forests & Demons
Smaller update this time, most of the changes are either cosmetic, or relating to the demonkin route. Those are listed at the end if you want to avoid spoilers. Some notable changes out side of that: Shrines now have a completion reward before, and outside of, the hellfire event, some items that previously lacked unique graphics now have new graphics, the book of four-heal now has an upgrade tree, and I fixed a bug where the player could hit enemies that had the immune status. Oh, also some parallax work and reworks, including this pretty oak forest parallax I made to replace the jungle parallax. The jungle looked nice but it was thematically off. It can still appear as a random background in places that don't care, like the extras menu shrine minigame.
Changes & additions
- Campfire rest now has a different music sting to inn rest.
- Changed the status tooltips to "inflicted on you" from "inflicted to you".
- Items with no overworld function now dim on the tile/use page.
- Item reward and shop item names are now slightly more spaced out.
- Added unique graphics for using the sacrificial dagger, tower shield, wedge shield, and bloodspike pauldron.
- Adventurer now visually shields themself when injured.
- Shrines now have soldiers guarding them if you've desecrated at least 2, or 4 shrines if it's in the burned area.
- Shrines now have demons guarding them if you've consecrated at least 5 (on top of if it's in the burned area).
- Lowered the space width on button text.
- Shrines and stats information sections now use wooden tiles for representation.
- Added a sound effect for selecting/deselecting a tile.
- Added sound effect to beams during 'the scene' and to shrine consecration/desecration.
- The player UI now indicates when your next attack has been augmented.
- Four-armour is now a gear instead of a passive, and affects anything with four of a kind in it, not just the 4-heal spell.
- New gear:
- Fourth order bookmark.
- Book of improved four-heal. (Perma-crafted from most combinations of the Fourth order bookmark, Four-armour, and the Book of improved four-heal)
- The deft and adept passives can now drop for the cultist, mage, paladin, priest, and demonkin.
- Changed some default options.
- Added basic parallaxes for villages and burned roads.
- Added new parallaxes for oak forests.
- Blood now moves to the end of your inventory when you return from a dungeon, and sorts in the last bracket.
- Added the options to prey or repent at shrines, so you get something for completing them before hell is active.
- Added a new tutorial screen if you try to click the consecration button when it's not active.
Fixes
- Fixed assassin and paladin attack animations not having an effect delay.
- Fixed a missing full stop on the large poison description.
- Fixed overworld movement being framerate dependant. (Mostly)
- Fixed unlocking but not earned gear items not correctly labelling as 'seen' for the almanac.
- Fixed locked classes having visible colour sliders.
- Fixed the player bypassing enemy attack immunity.
- Fixed item reward screen highlights cutting off near the edges.
- Fixed some specific button tooltips not clearing correctly.
- Fixed a missing pixel on the warrior and woodsman buckler run animation.
- Fixed user config options not being loaded on Android.
- Fixed beams potentially persisting into a new game.
- Fixed being presented with the pine forest parallax when it should be the oak forest parallax.
Demonkin route changes & fixes
- Fixed the you-can't-sleep-at-the-inn tooltip implying you don't have enough money, when really they just don't want to give you a room.
- Attacking a village now gives rewards like a regular adventure.
- Fixed attacking a village not marking the village as attacked.
- You can now rest at an attacked village as if it were a campfire.
- You can now loot an item that would have been in the shop at an attacked village.
- Assassin class can now appear as an enemy when you attack a village.
- Paladin bosses will now always have a sword and a shield.
- Shrines no longer force an adventures against demons to activate.
- Altar enemy set will now default to soldiers if your shrine karma was 0.
- The "village is under attack" event can no longer trigger at a village you already attacked.
- Travelling merchant events can no longer happen at attacked villages.
- Fixed buckler handle overlapping the knee in the hurt animation.
- Desecrating a shrine now takes increasing amounts of blood.
- Added a cost indicator to the desecrate button.
- Fixed desecrate button inactive tooltip always saying 'Need blood' when there's another reason it's inactive.
